Wild Bill’s Rodeo

About a year ago I wrote a blog post highlighting my three athletes and their races, also mentioning that I felt like I wanted to make coaching a bigger part of what I do. 15 years old and having lived in Wisconsin for only the past two months, she has already made waves in the area in the few races that she has competed in. Identifying these things will help plan races better to play to strengths and, when the necessity arises that you have to race your weakness, you will have a better plan to deal with them. Every time Kent gets in a lake for a race it becomes choppy, and this year’s Racine race had about the worst conditions you can have without canceling the swim. Emma is a remote athlete now that she lives out of state, and the race that she was training for was a 70.3 in Europe. The water doesn’t look so bad here…. Tim Leung is a first year athlete who came to me looking for some help with his cycling before racing a half Ironman. Cody Williams is that guy who raced the Birkebeiner cross-country ski marathon without training and never having had skis on before in his life prior to race day. Cody trained hard when he could, and his fitness, high natural ability and toughness to push through discomfort on race day earned him a great Ironman finish of 13:33. The race we were preparing for was the Texas 70.3, which would be her first race longer than a sprint. It’s been a great first year at SBR. For some athletes, the race is the end of the road, for others training and racing is more of a lifestyle.

Weight Loss for Athletes, Runners, Cyclists, Triathletes

My private goal, which I didn’t share with anyone, was to start shopping for a brand new road bike once I dropped my weight below 200 pounds. Being a foodie, a decent amateur cook, and the primary food preparer in our household, I sought to get my hands on the Racing Weight Cookbook. My wife will be the first to tell you that our menu selections before Racing Weight Cookbook were quite limited and our weekly repertoire was quickly growing stagnant. The Racing Weight Cookbook has provided a breath of fresh air into our culinary repertoire. Truth be told, I have not observed any weight loss since investigating the nutritional guidelines in the Racing Weight book and preparing meals from the Racing Weight Cookbook. It would be interesting to collect data on the implementation of the Racing Weight philosophy into the diet of those who have significant weight loss to accomplish. Our mission aligns with my mission of publicizing the Racing Weight Cookbook; we want others to see that if we can do it with all the time challenges in our lives, anyone can experience the same success and a healthier, happier lifestyle. With the continued support of family and friends, logging miles on the bike, and through the nutritional advice of the Racing Weight series, I look forward to many more years of healthy living, fun times in the kitchen, and flavorful and nutritious eating. The Racing Weight Series™ is the proven weight-loss program for endurance athletes. The Racing Weight Series™ is published by VeloPress, the leading publisher of books about endurance sports.
